Chain connectors.

These systems allow you to break and reconnect your chain without the use of a chainbreaker. The example here is Wipperman Connex. These may be purchased aftermarket and are good value. If you travel using this system always have a spare as it is possible to misplace a bit during servicing.

To install it you need to take a link out of your chain. You remove a link with outer plates. The new connector is two pieces. Each is an outer plate with a pin attached.

It is still wise to carry a few spare links and a lightweight chainbreaker on a tour but this connector makes chain removal for cleaning very easy.
