Outside (extreme) carton storage.

If you are in a fix and really want the carton in say 1-7 days but  have no where to keep it, plus you want to ride out of the airport, try this.

Fold the carton flat with the flaps in and tape it a bit to stay flat. Leave your bike for a moment and wander outside with the carton looking for a building site. Just slide it behind the fence barrier in an area that no one is likely to be required to clean up.

On the right, I have caught the train in from Munich airport to Marianplaza Station right in the middle of Munich. The bike was on the train still in the box. An old church across from the city station entrance was being restored. The carton was still there six days later when I returned!  

On the left, in Adelaide, at the Tour Down Under, the Baggage Services folks at the airport would not help me out. Across the way from the terminal was a new carpark building site. I dropped it over the fence so it would fall behind a sign.  The carton was there four days later! Why waste a perfectly good carton? Use it again. Perfect.
